The goal of Localify is to support local music communities through intelligent music recommendation and playlist creation. It is an ad-free, not-for-profit, student-driven project based out of Ithaca College and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA.

FAQs

Does Localify sell the data that is collected by the system?

No. Any data that we collect is used internally to automatically improve our system. In some cases, we may release a subset of our data into the public domain for the explicit use of the academic research community. In all cases, the data is obfuscated and aggregated so that all personally identifiable information is removed.

How much music data do you have in your catalog?

– 500K artists
– 500K past events, 25K upcoming events
– 1,700 cities with at least one upcoming event

Can I help the Localify cause?

We are looking for motivated individuals to help us promote local music scenes. There are two ways you can help:

– Spread the word. Blog posts and social media shares are greatly appreciated. We do not do any paid advertising so anything you can do get people to listen to more local music is a win for everyone.
– Software design and development: Do you enjoy designing interactive experiences? Are you interested in implementing playlist algorithms? Are you good at software engineering?
